In April I went to Barbados for a little R&R, to settle my wedding planning nerves and to see my Auntie Debbie and Uncle Geoff who live there. While I was there I photographed inside an old chattel house, saw an old windmill coated in yellow flowers which bloom on one day only per year, and photographed in my aunt and uncle's garden.
PDN Top Knots Winner!
I’m excited to share that I have a photograph in PDN‘s wedding issue! My photograph of Gopi’s bouquet was selected with eight other talented photographers in the details & interiors category in the eighth annual Top Knots contest.
I love Annika’s cake picture next to mine too. Unfortunately my scanner isn’t big enough for the PDN issue, and so it cut off her credit :(
{To see the rest of the images from the contest feel free to take a look online or in the May 2011 magazine issue of PDN.}
Savoring the Hamptons Cookbook
Savoring the Hamptons cookbook is a culinary celebration of this unique region. The book is divided by season to highlight the variety of elements and characteristically rugged charm of the Hamptons. The ensemble of more than 250 recipes is accompanied by stories and photographs of local wineries, farmers, fisherman, artisans, and restaurateurs to create a Hamptons mosaic. From Starr Boggs in Westhampton Beach and Mecox Bay Dairy in Bridgehampton to Wolffer Estates in Sagaonack and Quail Hill Organic Farm in Amagansett, this is the definitive cookbook of the Hamptons. There are more than 60 stunning full-color food photographs and scenery shots throughout.
I’m thrilled to announce the cookbook I worked so hard on last year is being released on May 10th! Silvia Lehrer, the cookbook author and food columnist for Dan’s Papers, just notified me that the book is finally for sale. There are already advance copies being sold on Barnes and Noble as well as on Amazon, so please reserve your copy now!
Here is the Synopsis:
From the Publisher
The Hamptons possess an unmistakable and indisputable charm. The bounty of the farms and the character of each town in this string of villages have created a remarkable culinary culture among the sand dunes and lighthouses.

A Day’s Work: C-Prints on my Wall
I had the pleasure of getting back in the color darkroom on Friday to print some 11×14's for the upcoming New York Magazine Weddings event on March 30th at the Metropolitan Pavilion.
I was using a new kind of paper, the Fuji Crystal Archive Type II as opposed to my favorite Super C which had been discontinued in 11×14 sheets, to my dismay. I do like the prints I made, even though they appear softer and less contrasty than they would have with the Super Type C.
Here are the 6 prints I made in the darkroom on Friday.
Patty & Joe in Montauk
I loved photographing Patty & Joe in Montauk. What a fun wedding and rehearsal dinner: casual and elegant, just like the sweet couple.
Patty and Joe’s daytime wedding took place at East by NorthEast. Their ceremony was set up out back overlooking Montauk’s Fort Pond. It was a gloriously sunny summer weekend. Their rehearsal dinner was also super fun, a delicious clam bake at Navy Beach. I enjoyed mixing up the mediums I used to document their wedding. I photographed with a Contax 645 film camera, a Mamiya RZ67 camera, a Holga and a Canon dslr!
From the bride:
After we got engaged, we really had no clear idea of exactly what we wanted for our wedding – other than a fun party that wasn’t too formal – or even where we wanted to get married. Eventually, we settled on Montauk, where we had spent the last two summers, and it couldn’t have worked out better. It became a destination wedding, of sorts, and we were able to enjoy the full weekend with our family and friends. Best of all, Mother Nature cooperated completely, giving us a string of perfect 80 degree days in the middle of one of the hottest, most humid summers on record in the northeast.
Patty and Joe’s wedding was also featured on Style Me Pretty. Please feel free to take a look at it here!

In preparation for the big New York Magazine Wedding event on March 30th in which I will be displaying my work, I have been busy making prints and new albums. I also have hired a new profesional printer to take care of my extra large prints because, as much as I love to print, it has been hard to find the time to do it all myself.
Anthony Accardi of Green Rhino in Greenpoint, Brooklyn has been working away and drum scanning negatives for me. Here is an image of Jade with her bouquet that he drum scanned, at full frame, for me yesterday. I’m loving all of the lovely detail which is captured in the scanning process. I can’t wait to make a print of it!
Image of the Month: Bouquet at the Foundry
This month's Image of the Month is a photograph of Gopi's luscious bouquet, photographed during her portrait session, outside the Foundry. I love the shallow depth of field and how the rich colors of the flowers pop from the white backdrop of her dress.
