Malibu Chic Wedding on Style Me Pretty

Hello from beautiful Montreal!
Yesterday, before I left for JFK airport, I was pleased to see that Abby of Style Me Pretty featured my photos from Catherine & Ken’s Malibu wedding.
If you haven’t already seen it, here are a few clips from the Malibu Chic Wedding on Style Me Pretty. And more of the couple’s entire wedding in my wedding gallery
Have a great weekend : )

Image of the Month: Farmer’s Hands

FarmersHandsWGarlicSm

I
chose this as my Image of the Month for September because it reminds me
of this time of year. I photographed this handful of garlic, in the
fall, at a farmer’s market in Santa Marguerita, Liguria, which is a
Mediterranean town in Northern Italy.

I love the colors and textures that are captured on film. The details and the farmer's hands tell a very specific story.

Design*Sponge Feature!

Last week, Design*Sponge featured Oh Joy‘s new Stationery made for Chronicle Books. Here is a glimpse at the feature & more of my photos for Joy in the following post…

Oh Joy! for Chronicle Books

KarenWise_JoyStickiesBook I am so lucky to have the opportunity to photograph still lifes for the super-talented Joy Cho, the creator of the popular design blog Oh Joy! and the designer for OhJoy.com.

When her new Oh Joy for Chronicle pieces arrived in the mail from San Diego last week, my jaw dropped! I had never seen a mailer or a file folder look so breathtakingly beautiful!

I initially met Joy when I was contracted to photograph her Philadelphia wedding in 2006. Since then, we’ve continued to collaborate on creative projects: she’s designed my logo, my blog, my stationery and the look of my website too, while I’ve shot her different lines of stationery products.
You may see lots more of Joy’s stationery & graphics and her inspirational blog online.

It was such a pleasure to make these still lifes in my Bklyn studio with my photo books and wooden trunk.
(For those who have asked the photo book used was A History of Photography: From 1839 to the Present; The George Eastman House Collection. The flower image was made by the photographer Albert Renger-Patzsch in 1922 (a gelatin silver print).
Please also take a look at Design*Sponge where these photos of Joy’s pieces were featured today : )

After the wedding in Tel Aviv/Yafo (Jaffa) we bussed it to Jerusalem and then rented a car to get to Ein Gedi from there. We explored Masada in one day and at the end of it took a dip in the Dead Sea…

In early July I was lucky enough to get to photograph the beautiful wedding of Osi and Gary in Old Jaffa, Israel, the port city a bit south down from Tel Aviv. I shot these photos, a few moments before their ceremony, in the alleys in the old walled city.

While I was walking through the Old City of Jerusalem in the Arab Quarter, I came across this boy with the most awesome look. He welcomed me to take a photo of him.

I love this picture.

I also love this photo of three girl friends in the Arab Quarter who also asked for a photo. The roads wound through arches and alleyways, which eventually led to the Dome of the Rock.

In the first week of July, I traveled to Israel to photograph a wedding in Tel Aviv & Jaffa.

In the week following the event, I traveled to the Old City in Jerusalem and then to Masada on the Dead Sea. Here are some of the first photos from that trip, of the Western Wall (The Wailing Wall) in Old Jerusalem.

More to come…
