Pooja & Harsh’s Tropical Wedding

I'm back from a much needed holiday in Montreal & Tremblant, Canada where Chandler and I went skiing in powder snow amongst the pine trees and singing chickadees. It was a beautiful end to a busy busy 2009!

Today I'm starting the new year with a sequel to Pooja & Harsh's Dominican Republic wedding (which I shot in Nov 2009). Today they are having a party for local friends and family at the Midtown Loft in Manhattan.

Above is a collage of prints laid out on my table before showing the couple their prints and images from Punta Cana. I love how happy they looked in all of their photos and how much fun their wedding was! Congrats Pooja & Harsh and see you again tonight!!

Joya Products & Package Design by Oh Joy!

In December, I had the pleasure of photographing some beautiful new package designs by Oh Joy! Studio for Joya products, which are currently being sold at Anthropologie stores and online.

The Joya Reserve collection of candles, liquid soap, and body cream is composed of “modern interpretations of classic European scents from centuries past. The art direction and design was inspired by a mix of old and new with “time” being a running theme throughout.”

{All 3 of these products smell delightful! They were even able to lure over Oscar the cat to the photo shoot :}

Image of the Month: Cocktails at Blue Hill at Stone Barns

Happy New Year!KarenWise_ImageoftheMonth1209b
I chose this image for my Image of the Month for December, 2009.

It was made at a wedding I photographed in September at the fabulous Blue Hill at Stone Barns restaurant in Pocantico Hills, NY. I thought the bright, full glasses were appropriate as we celebrate and toast to a new decade ahead.

For more of my NY weddings you may click on NY Weddings on my blog, or look at my website: KarenWise.com. For more food & drink imagery click here.

Thank you for your continued interest throughout the year. Here's to happiness, good health and prosperity in 2010!

Best wishes,

Marissa Mayer and Zack Bogue’s Wedding

Happy Holidays to all!

What a huge honor it was for me to photograph former Google Vice President, now Yahoo! CEO, Marissa Mayer and Zack Bogue’s wedding last weekend in San Francisco! It was a beautiful 3-day wedding, and an amazing experience for me to shoot it.

Here is one photo from Marissa and Zack’s magical winter-themed church ceremony, published in the San Francisco Chronicle.

As mentioned in the article, Marissa and Zack worked with Robert Fountain Productions to plan the event.

Marissa Mayer’s gowns were designed by Naeem Khan. (Khan was made famous by Michelle Obama wearing one of his beautiful gowns back in November, when the President and she met with India’s Prime Minister at the White House.)

Friday night venue was Bimbo’s 365, San Francisco with a surprise performance by the Killers!

Saturday night venue: Four Season’s Hotel, San Francisco.

Both venues (Bimbo’s 365 and Four Seasons) were splendidly styled by Robert Fountain.

Their cake design was by the fabulous Ron Ben-Israel. Funny enough, we had worked together remotely in NYC, but only formally met in San Francisco!

The Comfort of Being Home

As I compose this post on the airplane, on my way back from San Francisco (Virgin America is so awesome), I yearn for home. It’s been a few days and many weeks since I’ve really BEEN home. And with a few days off to enjoy it.

Here are a few photos that soothe me, containing things that I enjoy or comfort me (flowers, sweets, candles/pretty light, water and family).

(I just need a photo of a comfy bed to complete this Home Comfort story.)

The candle was made by Joya with graphics designed and art directed by Oh Joy! Studio.  (Candles, cremes, and soap sold at Anthropologie). They were shot in my home.

The flowers were styled by Emily Thompson, and shot in my home.

My sister, her daughter Allie, and my new nephew Johnny provide a lot of laughs and comfort. As well as my beau Chandler who I look forward to going home to!
